I write. I explore. And I'm eager to help others travel better.

It all began with a high school trip to Italy.

That led to a college semester abroad in Madrid, Spain, which translated into a life in Barcelona, Spain and (briefly) Japan.

Fluent in Spanish, I can also read and write in French and Catalan, and know the all-important Japanese basics (how to count to 10, ask where the toilets are).

I’ve taught English. Worked in the news, as well as magazine and book publishing. Even had a magazine cover girl moment (although a mask obscured my face).

Here is my travel writing for Travel + Leisure and Untapped Cities. I have also created NYC travel guides for Trip.com.

My non-travel writing for PBS can be found here. Additional non-travel writing here and here. I’m currently working on a children's book.

I adore:

"Globe Trekker's" Ian and Justine

David Sedaris and Anthony Bourdain

Rick Steves. Despite once receiving a rejection letter from his production company, I continue to use my RS money belt whenever I travel.

Julia Child's "My Life in France”

Truman Capote's “Train Through Spain"

Joan Didion’s “Slouching Towards Bethlehem”

“As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning” by Laurie Lee

Tim Cahill’s “The Jaguars Ripped My Flesh”

Sarah Vowell’s “Assassination Vacation,” and the writing of Jan Morris.

I'm a green tea drinking, chocolate croissant eating kind of gal. They are my lifeblood.

Arts lover.

Avid walker.

Perpetually curious.
